What I don't like about many German novels is that they're often about depressed protagonists. They're walking through life with an ever increasing confusion and at some point everything feels like a fever dream they're trying to escape.
Same with this book. The setting is good, the story interesting but I just didn't like the people I had to spend time with while reading. Especially the protagonist.
